We recently got some old pieces of oak from Glasgow Wood Recycling project, a charity based in Drumchapel and Partick. They had lots of staves from some old oak whisky barrels, which we thought we'd try and use for tenement kit chimneys.
We recently got some old pieces of oak from Glasgow Wood Recycling project, a charity based in Drumchapel and Partick. They had lots of staves from some old oak whisky barrels, which we thought we'd try and use for tenement kit chimneys.
Over the last week we've been cutting the staves down, and today cut and sanded a LOT of chimneys. The oak sawdust smells of whisky, and we think we can tell whether the wood was on the inside or outside of the barrel by how strongly it smells! So our wee workshop smells lovely just now, although it's making me want to go to the pub...
